Kristin’s friends at work held their ‘Belay Team’ event this weekend. They called it Hugs 4 BUG. They had a walk and then met back at base camp and had BBQ and Drinks. Unfortunately it rained like crazy but everyone still seemed to be in good spirits. It seemed to play into our motto of :
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storms to pass,
It is about learning to Dance in the Rain”
We got Jadon all set up in the living room. Literally taking over the space with all of his equipment. We got up a couple of times and paraded him around the party but mostly people came to us. A lot of people had questions and it was great to help them understand the disease a little better.
The entire day was incredible, but the highlight had to be when two young boys approached us and wanted to give their donation directly to Jadon. We found out later that Ryan, one of the boys told his mom he wanted to go home and get his money and she told him that they had already donated as a family. He insisted that he use his own birthday money that he had just gotten in the mail.
This is the kind of thing that we are blessed to witness. You always want to look for the good in a situation and this is what we get to see so often. Not just the kids but the adults as well. There are people doing things for us that I can’t comprehend. They are doing things for us that make me want to be a better person, things that make me want to make a difference in some small way, better yet, in some big way. You are all making such a huge difference in our lives. Thank you.
